Model train shows can vary from large travelling exhibitions to smaller, more localized ones with a permanent store front or building as a base of operations. The permanent ones boast layouts of model trains in excess of 20′ long by 30′ wide, often depicting a local area that is instantly recognizable by nearby residents. Railway scenery is often created to show a time when trains were the main means of transporting goods and passengers.
