In 1831 a young girl snuck out late at night, long after her parents had put her to bed. Not surprisingly, she was missing the next day. 2 years later, . The young girl that had died 2 years ago had been tortured, than stabbed many times on her torso. So if u read this, u will wake up at exactly 12:00 midnight, only to find the dead girl at the end of your bed, holding a bloodied up knife. Then u die. send to 9 vids or else

That would be hard to say. Many factors are to be considered before starting a business. The one main concern is: do you have the money to invest? It takes money to make money. If I were you, I’d work for some photography business for a while. Learn as much as you can. Save your money so you can open your own.

But you could buy a franchise.

    Good luck!

Samurai is right on, there are probably a dozen different standardized sizes of switches.
They go by numbers, a number 10 turnout for example moves the track one foot outward for every 10 feet of length.
A number 10 is quite small and mostly used on yard turnouts and very old sidings.
A switch's maximum speed is roughly twice that number, so that number 10 switch is good for a maximum safe speed of 20 MPH, although to reduce wear and tear most RRs would rate that limit that switch to 10 – 15 MPH.

    # 20 and 30 turnouts are mostly in use where I work, they rate them at 30 MPH if your train is light and 25 for trains that average over 100 tons per car.

Then there are equilateral switches, I have only ran over two of them in my life, back on the UP years ago.
Instead of one track remaining straight and the other diverging away, the track was in the shape of a "Y" shape and both tracks diverged equally, this allowed a considerably faster turnout speed.

Like everythign else in railroading, there are few simple answers.

sounds like your still struggling to make your mind up,unless you really know what your looking for (or can afford a dual rectifier, etc) i would still stick with the modeling amps, they get as close as you need and offer the versatility on their own,yes the vox and orange amps are great sounding amps they are pretty much one trick ponies

An earlier version of the Southwest Tualatin Concept Plan would have extended Southwest Blake Street with a bridge over nearby railroad tracks, connecting residential land with industrial land. A final council decision on the revised concept is expected Sept. 13.

If this is their first set either one should be ok. You didn't specify the scale but I'm guessing that it's either N or Ho. I've had Atlas engines in both scales and there are fine machines. I've had Kato in N scale and they are good too. Micro Trains makes some nice rolling stock. I have quite a bit of it and I'm very impressed with it. I would recommend getting something that is DCC capable if you think this is going to become a hobby. This is a remote control system that most hobbiests switch too when they begin building a layout.
Another thing to consider is what is the intended recipients railroad interests. Do they have a favorite railroad, do they prefer diesel or steam, what sort of railroad influences do they have in their life. What are the local railroads in the area.
My personal tastes are The Southern Railroad in the early 50's but I also collect other southeastern railroads equipment of the same era. Most family members would not attempt to buy me a train gift because of this. However my wife has nailed it a couple of times particularly with books on related subjects.
I hope I'm not turning you away from the idea because there's nothing like a running train as a gift particullarly set up and running. If you want a few add ons throw in a copy of Modelrailroader and a gift certificate for a couple of extra freight cars. It's a hobby that can last a lifetime.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Completing your education is far more important than your hobby. If you can find a way to keep pursuing your hobby without affecting your life goals, then keep it up. But if you don't have time for both right now, go ahead and put the dancing on hold.

The biggest problem with avoiding train derailing is the lead time necessary to sense a problem and still have time to stop before reaching the fault location. There is a lot of information on fault detection available if you google for it. If your project is just a controlling programming experiment, you can improve your model just by making sure you have the best sensors available as models.

If you are trying to work out a more effective total system, the design difficulty you face isn't programming, it's having more effective sensors. If your project gives you leeway for imagination, you might include transfer functions for sensors that aren't available yet. As an example of what I mean, you might consider making each rail part of a resonant system, with frequency high enough so that the currents flow almost entirely on the surface. That skin effect will greatly increase the sensitivity, and has the best chance of locating faults. You would need to incorporate a derivative sensor, as well, that will correlate change in measurement disturbance with distance covered. That should be possible since the closer the fault the greater the amplitude of a fault effect on measurement … e.g., if it is greater as you cover ground, the train is getting closer to the fault and action is more urgent
    .
You can model the transfer function for the resonant circuit, and simulate a fault manually. This is actually how new sensors are developed, without actually building one until simulations (e.g. Monte Carlo) have shown a physically realizable model that would be cost and performance effective.
